My quilting journey began 18 years ago and follows a life-long love of working with textiles. I began experimenting with fabric, designing and making garments and furnishings, beside my mother and my aunt, the latter being a sewing teacher for Singer, and one of the last Singer’s Girls. From the age of 5 I was encouraged to use traditional methods and construction techniques.
Having picked up a quilting magazine one day, with a pretty picture of a child’s quilt on the cover, I felt drawn to this craft. This led me to my local quilting shop for supplies and that was it: my love of quilting was born.
As my family grew and left home I filled my rapidly emptying home by making all my children a special quilt to take with them: a comforting keepsake. I also gradually took over 3 bedrooms as my work rooms, as my increasing production led me to invest in a long-arm quilter and other specialist equipment.
I have recently enjoyed completing a Level 2 City & Guilds qualification, passing with distinction, and am due to start Level 3 in September 2017. My new line in art quilts and wall-hangings have been extremely enjoyable to create.
I design bespoke quilts to order, and am often inspired by my regular deliveries of beautiful new fabrics, so please contact me for more information.
